How to renew your business name
There are two options available to renew your business name online with us. You can;
To renew your business name on the spot using your credit card, we recommend our 'Pay now' service.
If you also need to review and update your business name details you can sign up or log into your account to renew and make changes.
If you don't renew your business name on time, ob体育 may cancel it. Find out more about ob体育 initiated cancellation of a business name.
Before you start you'll need your business name renewal notice. It's sent at least 30 days before your renewal is due and is sent via email in most cases. Here's an of what a renewal notice will look like.
Private service providers
You might receive a notice from a private service provider offering to assist with your business name renewal. This could be an accountant, solicitor, or other type of business that provides a service by using our online services to renew a business name on your behalf.聽
Using a private service provider is optional. If you choose to utilise their services, they will usually charge a fee beyond what we would charge. Even if a private service provider contacts you, you can still transact directly with us online for your business name.

Renew your business name using 'Pay now'
'Pay now' is a streamlined payment process that allows you to renew in a few simple steps.
All you need is your account number (as shown on your renewal notice) or your Australian Business Number (ABN). Please note that you can only enter your ABN if it's listed against your business name on the Australian Business Register (ABR).聽
To renew your business name using Pay now, follow the below steps:

Renew your business name using ob体育 Connect
ob体育 Connect is our online system used to manage your business name.
You'll need an account with your business name linked, to renew and make any changes to your business name.
To renew your business using ob体育 Connect, follow the below steps:

I haven't received my renewal notice
If you've updated your email address with ob体育, we'll email your renewal notice to you. If we don't have an email address then we'll send the renewal notice to the address for service of documents address listed on our business name register. Video transcript - How to renew your business name
ob体育 Connect is the online system used to manage your business name. You can use ob体育 Connect to renew your business name, as long as you鈥檝e already received your business name renewal notice.
You can renew for a 1 or 3 year period, and you can pay online with a credit card, by BPAY or request an invoice. A record of registration will be issued to the business email address after payment has been processed.
Before you can start, you must have received your renewal notice. This notice is sent out in advance of the renewal due date and provides information on the renewal process.
The notice will be sent by email if you鈥檝e provided us with a business email address, or by post to your address for service of documents.
To get started, you鈥檒l first need to visit our website at . If you only want to renew your business name, and don鈥檛 need to update any details on your account, you should use the Pay now service.
But, if you need to update any details on your account, you should use the ob体育 connect option. In this tutorial, we鈥檒l use ob体育 Connect.
In the top-right corner of the page you鈥檒l see the ob体育 Connect box. Simply select Log in/Sign up to go to the ob体育 Connect part of the website.
You are now at the ob体育 Connect Welcome page. In the blue ob体育 Connect box, you can log in with a username and password, sign up, or enter an AUSkey to log in.
If you don鈥檛 yet have an account, select Sign up and follow the prompts. You can also refer to our user guide How to sign up for an ob体育 Connect account for guidance.
In order to renew your business name through ob体育 Connect, your business must be linked to your account.
If you haven鈥檛 already linked your business to your account, it鈥檚 a simple process. Under the Do It Now menu on the right-hand side of the page, select Link a business/Request ob体育 key and follow the prompts. You can work through the How to link a business to your ob体育 Connect account tutorial for guidance.
To renew your business name, you first need to select the Lodgements and Notifications tab from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
On the next page, you鈥檒l see a list of the businesses that are linked to your account. Select the business name you鈥檇 like to renew. In the transactions column, you can then use the drop-down to select Renew business name.
To continue, select Go.
Next you鈥檒l be asked your preferred renewal period 鈥� either 1 year or 3 years. Select the appropriate radio button and then select Next.
Before you submit your renewal request, you will be asked to review the details.
At this point, you can select Back to return to the previous screen and amend the details, Save and Exit if you would like to save the renewal details but not submit the final request, or Submit to continue.
The final step before payment is to declare your agreement with the conditions of the transaction.
Read the declaration carefully and, if you agree, tick the boxes to confirm your agreement. Under Authority, select the relevant option.
When you鈥檙e done, select the Next button to proceed to payment.
There are various options for paying the fee for registering a business name. You can choose to pay now by credit card, or pay later by BPAY or invoice.
First let鈥檚 look at the option to pay now by credit card, then we鈥檒l return to this screen to look at how to pay later.
To pay now, you鈥榣l need to select the Pay Now radio button at the bottom of the screen and then select the Pay Now button.
On the next page, you can enter your Card Number, Expiry Date and CVV number. Then to process the payment, select Submit.
If the payment is successful, your payment receipt will be displayed. Make sure you don鈥檛 close the browser window at this point, because you need to return to ob体育 Connect to finalise the transaction. Instead, select the Close button within the Pay Now window. Now, let鈥檚 look at how to pay later.
When you select the Pay later radio button at the bottom of the screen, you will be able to choose either BPAY or Invoice.
If you select Invoice, the invoice will be sent to the email address you provided. If you select BPAY, you鈥檒l need to print or make a note of the BPAY details, so that you can process your payment through your bank.
To confirm, you will select Pay Later.
Once you have chosen a payment method and completed the appropriate steps, you鈥檒l be taken to a final confirmation screen. Here you can:
- Select Print the transaction to download a printable PDF version of the transaction
- Select one of the links under What else can I do? for more information about other services or
- Select Home to return to the ob体育 Connect Home page.
You should now know the basic steps involved in renewing your business name.
